The fall is already proving to be very productive for the AAHA organization. One of our biggest accomplishments is completing the first ever AAHA 5K Run Walk out at SeaWorld San Antonio. The participants and the board had a wonderful time and look forward to many future group activities.

We have also selected six very qualified candidates to fill vacant board positions in 2014. The votes are in and the nominating committee is tallying the results. The new AAHA Board members will be announced at the next luncheon and those new members will begin shadowing their predecessors and will officially take office in December. We thank everyone that participated in the 2014 voting process.

September Luncheon at Maggiano's

Thanks to Stephanie Vanderburg with Maggiano's Little Italy for hosting the September AAHA luncheon. Stephanie and her staff did a fantastic job serving AAHA members the most delicious Italian food! OMG, it was amazing!!

Also, thanks to the Jeffrey Siebert from Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Brian Knowlton from SeaWorld San Antonio, Alex Amaro with Alamo Plaza Attractions and Anthony Wofford with the Convergent Theatre Group for delighting us with the exciting events happening at each of their attractions and businesses. It is clear to see that there is a lot of entertainment to be had in this city!

A Note from the SACVB

A note from the San Antonio Convention and Visitor's Bureau Executive Director, Casandra Matej:

Hospitality and tourism partners are invited to the SACVB's Annual Meeting on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. Join us as we look back at the fiscal year highlights and look forward to 2014 and beyond. Attendees will get a first look at the Annual Report and partnership opportunities, as well as hear from our special guest, the president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, Roger Dow. Winners of the 2013 Robert H.H. Hugman and Con Corazon Awards will also be announced.

Nominations can be made at http://partners.visitsanantonio.com through October 4. This free event is truly an action-packed and information-filled meeting that you won't want to miss out on! A formal invitation with location details will follow soon.

It is also not too late to join your San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau in the 2013 City of San Antonio United Way Charitable Campaign efforts. To date, we have participated in a variety of ways - the Charitable Campaign Kickoff Luncheon, Silent Auction, individual contributions and much more. I challenge San Antonio's hospitality sector to "Catch The Spirit" of giving and help strengthen our community. I encourage you and your business to consider kicking off your own campaign and host an educational and fun event to help exceed the campaign's goals. It is easy to do - campaigns can last for two to six weeks and the United Way staff will help guide you every step of the way!

To learn more about the City of San Antonio United Way Charitable Campaign, listen to this message from City Manager Sheryl Sculley, 2013 United Way Campaign Chair. Click here.

The first-ever AAHA 5K Run Walk is over and was a great success. Thank you again to Ray Martinez and the SeaWorld events team for allowing us to use SeaWorld for our inaugural event. You all did a fantastic job.

Visit our Like us on Facebook Facebook page to like your picture from the AAHA 5K. We are working on an exciting change for next year's AAHA 5K and are hoping to have it once again at SeaWorld! We'll keep you posted of the changes.

Where did you go on your last vacation?:
it was a mini-vacation to Concan, TX to enjoy the Frio River.

If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?:
