Greetings from the
Alamo Area Hospitality Association

October came and went so quickly and now we welcome November.

There's still time to submit your nominations for the Board.  If you want to join us nominate yourself or others and get it to us as quickly as possible as we vote in November.  And speaking of voting; don't forget to cast your ballot on November 6.

Daylight Savings comes late this year so don't forget to turn your clocks back on Saturday evening, November 3 and enjoy that extra hour of sleep on Sunday.

We each have so much to be thankful for; we are especially thankful of your support of the association. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

See you at the November luncheon.
October Luncheon at Rio Rio Cantina

Thank you to our friends at Paesano's Restaurant Group for our October luncheon. Our featured guest speaker was Mike Sawaya, Director of the City of San Antonio's Convention, Sports and Entertainment Facilities.

Mike spoke to the attendees about the Convention Center expansion and timeline; the largest capital project in San Antonio's history.  Plans include adding at least 300,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space to the current 200,000 square feet.  The Convention Center will house a new 50,000-square-foot to 80,000-square foot exhibit ballroom.  A total 684,000 square feet of new construction and 86,000 square feet of renovation will be added to the Convention Center. Once finished, the augmented exhibit space would bump the Convention Center's ranking from 22nd to ninth in the U.S. among similar convention design.
