January 2014
Letter from the Chairman

It is so hard to believe that 2014 is already here.  I am thrilled to lead AAHA in the year to come.  By the end of 2013 our membership grew to over 100 members.  I am excited to see that growth continue as more and more industry professionals see the value in joining AAHA.

In 2014, I am looking forward to the 2nd Annual AAHA 5K, increased community involvement and other special projects to be announced at a later date.

I am so honored to serve as the Chairperson for such a great hospitality organization.  As we work together as colleagues in one of the top industries in San Antonio, our organization can only grow stronger.  Let's have a great 2014!!

David Uminski
2014 Chairman
Alamo Area Hospitality Association

Community Outreach
Charitable Organizations Receive Holiday Donations.

One of the major components of the mission of AAHA, besides promoting the tourism and hospitality industry, is repaying our gratitude to the community of San Antonio. The AAHA Board of Directors works throughout the year fundraising so that we may award charitable organizations during the holidays. This year, we were especially thankful and were able to donate $1000 each to the following organizations:

  • Meals on Wheels San Antonio, presented to Sharon Baughman
  • San Antonio Food Bank, presented to Eric Cooper & Gerry Letch
  • St. Phillip's College, presented to Mary Kunz
  • San Antonio Youth Literacy, presented to Patricia Medina
  • Amniotic Fluid Embolism Foundation, presented to Michelle Moon

Holiday Senior Program
Making memories for San Antonio seniors.

On Friday, December 20th, several of the AAHA Board and membership visited the Salvation Army Hope Center to bring a little holiday cheer to the friendly seniors. It was definitely a party atmosphere with live music, dancing, holiday gifts and cake. The Salvation Army Hope Center was also presented with a check for $250.
