Letter from the Chairman

I am so disappointed to have missed the September luncheon at Luke. A work event kept me busy at the airport at the time of the luncheon.  I have heard nothing but rave reviews on the event, which is to be expected from Chef John Russ, Carrie Anne Silvers and the rest of the Luke team.

Reflecting on this reminds me how we are able to lean on others to handle association needs while our personal work schedules keep us busy.  The networking that goes on during lunches and other special events is so crucial to strengthening professional relationships within the industry.

Thank you to all of our members who support AAHA as well as the Members-to-Be that come to the lunches.  I hope you will consider joining during our Membership Drive in the coming month!

Get Quacking for the Cause
Lucky Duck Race & Concert

The River Walk Lucky Duck Race and Concert is next Saturday, October 4th, at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.  The beneficiary this year is the San Antonio Food Bank, who is handling all the marketing and duck adoptions.  They really need our help - their goal is 15,000 ducks, and they have only had 1,600 adopted so far.  If you would please consider adopting for yourself or your company, and then pass this along to your networks, and ask people to adopt a Quack Pack - 6 ducks for $25, we could help them reach their goal.  Each $5 provides 35 meals for those in our community who are served by the Food Bank.

Here is the link to adopt: https://www.duckrace.com/riverwalk/adopt

October 2014 Luncheon
Delicious food, hot topics and gorgeous views at The Veranda

Please join us on Thursday, October 16 at The Veranda, San Antonio's premier event venue. The Veranda is located on a picturesque 3-acre estate, originally built in the 1920's and nestled in the beautiful Castle Hills area. Recently restored, this unique venue offers a view into a bygone era, yet has every modern amenity. Chef Mike Bomberg and the Spice of Life Catering team will present us with an unforgettable culinary experience.

The programming for October will be "HOT TOPICS." Each table will have a question or scenario relevant to the Hospitality industry. Groups will discuss and then share thoughts of the discussion. This innovative session will be a great learning tool and also a lot of fun! There will also be a Fishbowl Raffle. Fishbowl donations would be appreciated.
